Since the majority of my professional career has been with the same company doing primarily digital work, it’s always strange for me to see something I’ve designed in the physical world.
Last year I helped redesign the branding for One Six Five(Seriously, check out their stuff if you haven't), a jewelry studio owned by my friends Kaleigh and Claire. They threw a party this past weekend to celebrate their two year anniversary and promote their latest line of jewelry; it was great to see them and how their line has evolved. When I walked over to the refreshment table, a delighted smirk came to my face—and not just because of the delicious looking cheese plate. Kaleigh and Claire ordered cookies from Patty Cake Bakery and had them decorated with the One Six Five logo. It was so cool to something I’d designed on such a random object! And not only did they look good, they tasted great, too.
Also, I hadn't started this blog when this happened but back in November, I won my first design award! It was for the work that I did for One Six Five(that's why I'm bringing it up now). I was awarded a merit in the identity category from Columbus Society of Communicating Arts. It was very exciting & I'm still in shock that my work won & is shown next to such talent designers in Columbus.
